The following images show alternative domains for the CORDEX Central America - Caribbean
region along with simulated precipitation for 1990-1993. Precipitation is the difference
of the simulated monthly mean averaged over 1990-1993 from the corresponding CRU 0.5 degree
gridded climatology.
Descriptions and latitude-longitude limits for the domains:
- Default: Similar to the default CORDEX domain given at the CORDEX web site but extended slightly northward to enclose all of Baja California and the Gulf of California.
Latitude -15.6 to 35.7,
Longitude -132.7 to -20.9.
- Proposed: The proposed new CORDEX domain based on discussions at ICTP.
Latitude -9.6 to 43.5,
Longitude -139.0 to -21.0.
- Large: A large domain that extends the "default" domain by about 4 to 5 degrees in all directions.
Latitude -20.6 to 41.1,
Longitude -138.4 to -15.2.
- VeryLarge: An even larger domain that extends the "default" domain by about 10 degrees in all directions.
On the western edge the domain extends all the way into the central Pacific Ocean, in order to more fully include
the influence of tropical SST patterns.
Latitude -26.5 to 45.8,
Longitude -149.9 to -10.2.
- Option 1:
Shifts "default" about 4 to 5 degrees toward the north.
That is, this domain has the same number of grid points as "default" but shifted to the north.
Note this is close to the "proposed" domain but does not go quite as far north or west.
Latitude -11.1 to 40.3,
Longitude -133.9 to -19.7.
- Option 1:
Extends "default" by about 4 degrees to the north (so it has more grid points than "Option 1").
Latitude -15.6 to 39.8,
Longitude -133.3 to -20.3.
